Test Proctoring

The Granville Public Library offers free test proctoring service to students of all ages. Test proctors administer exams when a student is unable to take the test at their educational institution.

Scheduling

Appointments are scheduled during open library hours, based on staff availability. Please contact the Public Services Librarian at 740-587-0196 or by email at reference@granvillelibrary.org to ask questions related to this service or to schedule your exam.

Fees

Test proctoring service is available at no charge. If printing is necessary, the standard copy rate of 10 cents per page must be paid by the student on the date of the exam.

How to prepare for your proctored test

  • Check your school’s proctoring policy before making an appointment, as we may not be able to satisfy the requirements of every institution. For example, we can’t guarantee a private room and library computers are located in public spaces.
  • Request an appointment at least one week before the desired test date.
  • Arrange for testing materials to be sent to the proctor and confirm receipt.
  • Bring your official form of picture ID and any supplies you may need (pencils, pens, paper, calculator, etc.)
  • Students are responsible for verifying that the completed exam was received by their educational institution.

What we provide

Proctor services include a space to take your test, use of a library computer (if required for online testing), and proctor supervision. Your proctor may send completed tests to your institution by email or fax when completed. If the exam must be mailed, the institution must supply an addressed envelope with return postage. If needed, proctors will retain testing materials for up to one month after the exam. Exams will not be assessed or graded by the proctor.

Technology

Proctors will not interpret test instructions or assist with online exam technical issues. Downloading software or modifying existing computer settings for online test taking is not permitted. The library can’t guarantee that technical problems or incompatibility will not occur when using library computers.
