6 STORYTIMES January 7 through February 26 Our storytimes are designed with consideration for the developmental needs and abilities of each of the baby, toddler, and preschooler groups. Baby Time Wednesdays | 9:30–10:15 AM Birth–18 Months Bounce rhymes, songs, and stories for babies followed by a play session. Toddler Time Wednesdays | 10:30–10:50 AM 19 Months–3 Years Movement rhymes and songs plus some short books. Preschool Time Thursdays | 10:30–11:00 AM 3–5 Years Rhymes, songs, and longer books. Teams should be comprised of 3 to 6 people and must include at least one adult. Registration Required; only one person needs to register for the entire team. Team members must arrive by 6:00 PM. Children younger than Grade K will not be admitted. Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza Tourney Friday, February 13 2–3:00 PM Grades K–6 Play the popular game in this double-elimination tournament. Registration Required Tween Dungeons & Dragons Friday, February 20 5:30–7:30 PM Grades 5 & 6 Come to this after-hours one-off session of Dungeons & Dragons. No experience or materials required. Just bring your creativity and a sense of adventure! Registration Required Snowball Painting for Preschoolers Monday, February 23 10:30–11:15 AM, Drop In Ages 3–5 Practice fine motor skills while painting snowball scenes with pom poms. JANUARY Chef Battle with The Cooking Caravan Wednesday, January 14 6:30–7:30 PM Caravan Chefs square off in a culinary competition that features audience members as sous chefs and judges. Our instant sous chefs must use their imagination and the ingredients on hand to create one delicious bite for the audience… who are also the judges! Meat, dairy, and nut free. Write with Images with Jerzy Drozd Tuesday, February 24 6–7:30 PM Learn how a cartoonist uses drawings, panel size, and crazy sound effects to immerse their readers in the story! Cartoonist Jerzy Drozd will lead you in an interactive discussion on some of the fundamental comics storytelling principles, after which you’ll be invited to create a short comics story of your own! This talk discusses the food, the clothes, the Ohio Black codes, the technicalities around “freedom,” and the length of the journey—in all its complexity. The practices created to navigate this railroad of sorts are cultural customs and norms. This talk will illuminate how we still carry many of them with us today.
