4 Family Trivia and Pizza Night Friday, March 28 6–7:30 PM Compete in this all-ages trivia night where each family member will contribute their unique knowledge to the contest. A smart phone or tablet (one per family) with Wi-Fi connectivity is required to play. Pizza provided. Registration Required Let’s All Make a Kite Saturday, March 29 1–2:00 PM Bryn Du Art Center All necessary materials will be provided to assemble and decorate a kite. Stick around and fly your kite on the Bryn Du lawn beginning at 2:00 PM. Register as an individual teen or adult or as a family with kids/teens (one kite per family). Registration Required Let’s Go Fly a Kite Saturday, March 29 2–3:00 PM Bryn Du Lawn Adults, teens, and kids…let’s fly our kites all together! Fly the kite you assembled and decorated during the preceding program or bring your own kite. Weather permitting. There will be no rain date. Bella’s Butterfly Balls Workshop Saturday, March 8 10–11:30 AM, Drop-in Grades K to 6 Six-year-old Bella McGuire will show how to make pollinator seed-packed wonders. Power Up to Kindergarten Register In-person Beginning Saturday, March 29 Kids entering kindergarten in 2025 Power Up to Kindergarten is a readiness program designed to help children entering kindergarten in 2025 practice the skills and behaviors necessary for a successful start. Children and caregivers who complete the selfpaced, guided training experience by Saturday, May 24 will receive a backpack filled with educational materials to support readiness practice over the summer. Funded by the Granville Community Foundation and the Friends of the Granville Public Library. APRIL Parachute Play Friday, April 4 10–10:45 AM Toddlers & Preschoolers Get moving and laughing with parachute games. Science Fun for Little Ones: Caterpillars Monday, April 14 10–10:45 AM Ages 3 to 5 We’ll read a story and learn about caterpillars while exploring several play stations. Family Scavenger Hunt Saturday, April 19 2–4:30 PM Families with Kids in Grades K to 6 At 2 PM, pick up a scavenger hunt list in the Children’s Dept., then explore the Village to find as many items as you can. Return to the Children’s Dept. by 4:30 PM to see which scavenging team had the greatest success.
8 Write-a-Poem Workshop Monday, April 21 2–3:00 PM Grades 4 to 6 Writers will play with a variety of prompts to inspire them to submit a polished poem to the library’s upcoming literary magazine sponsored by the Susan Cramer Fund. Tween Tech: Code Bracelets Wednesday, April 23 5–7:00 PM Grades 4 to 6 Using code, create a bracelet with your name on it. Family Fun Lab: Jelly Bean Zip Line Friday, April 25 5–6:00 PM Families with K to 6 Whose family can transport their jelly beans the fastest? MAY Stuffed Animal Sleepover Drop-Off: Friday, May 16 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Preschool through Grade 6 Slideshow of Sleepover Antics: Saturday, May 17 10:30 AM (All ages are welcome to attend.) Your stuffed animal has been invited to a sleepover at the library! Drop off your friend on Friday, May 16. Every Stone Has a Story: Granville’s Old Colony Burying Ground with Lyn Boone Tuesday, March 11 7–8:00 PM Some 825 ageing headstones remain today in the Old Colony Burying Ground, memorializing Granville’s original settlers and earliest residents. Their voices are silent now, but every stone has a story. Come and make the acquaintance of some of the first Granvilleans, the people who created the distinctive town we treasure today.
